These oil paintings depict solitary spaces evoking a sense of mystery and silence. The images of ancient rock formations have a monumental and sometimes anthropomorphic quality, a sense of weight, gravity and immediacy. Rock forms are used as a metaphor for body, with dark void-like recesses holding the secrets and memories of the earth. Life forms are held in suspension or compression, ready to emerge.
